Onne-Marju Russak
DVM, PgCert, DipECVIM-CA Dip (Onc), MRCVS
RCVS and EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Oncology.
Onne-Marju graduated from the Estonian University of Life Sciences in 2012 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She began her career in first opinion practice in Estonia, where she developed a strong interest in oncology through caring for pets with cancer and supporting their families.
Her passion for oncology led her to pursue specialist training in the UK, beginning with a rotating internship at the University of Nottingham, where she also earned a postgraduate certificate. This was followed by a dedicated oncology internship at the Animal Health Trust and a residency in Oncology at Dick White Referrals.
In April 2023, Onne-Marju became a board-certified Specialist in Small Animal Oncology. She takes a compassionate and collaborative approach, working closely with pet owners to deliver personalised, evidence-based care that prioritises each patient’s well-being. With a strong interest in targeted therapies and strategies that minimise side effects, her focus is on helping pets stay comfortable and maintain a good quality of life throughout treatment. She is dedicated to guiding families through their pet’s cancer journey with empathy and clinical excellence.
Onne-Marju remains active in scientific research, contributes to peer-reviewed publications, and lectures at international veterinary congresses. She also teaches final-year veterinary students in Estonia and enjoys mentoring future colleagues.
Outside of work, she enjoys running, going to the gym, and travelling — often combining these as she explores new places. When not on the move, she’s likely planning her next marathon or hiking adventure.
